Python Programming for Kids

  • Pranit Shah : Honors Computer Science graduate from UMass Amherst and experienced instructor at Code Sensei. He brings a deep understanding of modern curriculum design and a passion for mentoring young developers.

  • Asad Zaman : Ph.D. CS, Experienced Software Engineer with over 25 plus years of industry, academic and extensive research experiences. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) licensed Ham radio operator (CallSign KC1MNT)​

They will be supported by multiple industry experts who will be in the classroom to provide assistance to students.

Please Note:

  • No prior programming knowledge required.​

  • Courses will be conducted in English.​

  • Missed a class? No worries. Sessions 2, 3, and 4 will start with a quick 15-minute review of the previous lesson so that everyone can get up to speed.

  • ​A minimum attendance of 75% and successful completion of the hands-on project will be required for the course completion certificate.

AI Fundamentals for kids

Build your own AI based chatbot in 2 weeks ! 🚀

Demystify the world of Artificial Intelligence in this hands-on, beginner-friendly course. This course builds on the Python programming knowledge and extends into AI theory and practical application. You will journey from understanding the core concepts of intelligent systems to actually building and deploying your very own functional chatbot. By the end of this course, you won't just be using AI tools—you will understand the mechanics under the hood that make them work. Geared towards Age group 8-15 yrs.

Robotics for Kids - Session I

The air around us is filled with invisible conversations. This Robotics and Electronics module turns you into a radio explorer.🚀

How cool would it be to hang a sensor outside your main door that beeps every single time the Starlink (satellite constellation operated by SpaceX) flies overhead?

You will learn the art of Software Defined Radio (SDR). You will discover how to capture signals from the air, whether it’s a car key fob, a radio station, or even data beamed down from satellites in orbit. You will learn that the invisible spectrum is a vast landscape waiting to be explored. Geared towards Age group 8-15 yrs.

Robotics for Kids - Session II

Provide students with a robust entry into embedded and robotics systems by transitioning from basic hardware control to logical, algorithmic programming. The goal is to move from simple light manipulation to creating interactive, responsive sensor systems. đźš€

​​

  • GPIO Fundamentals: Understanding Digital Input/Output, managing voltage levels, and basic circuit construction on breadboards.

  • Timing & Duty Cycles: Learning how to manipulate time (delay, millis) and simulate analog signals using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM).

  • Algorithmic Logic: Implementing structured patterns (SOS) and conditional feedback loops (Distance Alarm).

  • Hardware Interfacing: Correctly wiring resistors, LEDs, ultrasonic sensors, and buzzers to an ESP32.

Robotics for Kids - Session III

To empower students to build a functional, web-enabled hardware device. The primary goal is to demystify how websites interact with physical objects, moving from local circuit control to network-based remote access.🚀

​

  • IoT Architecture: Understanding how the microcontroller (ESP32) acts as a server to receive requests from a client (the phone).

  • Networking Basics: Concepts of IP addresses, HTTP requests (GET/POST), and why the ESP32 needs to connect to a local WiFi network.

  • HTML/CSS Fundamentals: Writing a minimal web page directly within the Python firmware to serve as the user interface.

  • Web-to-Hardware Bridge: How to parse a URL request (e.g., /on or /off) and map it to a specific Digital GPIO pin on the ESP32.

  • Concurrency & Loop Management: Ensuring the web server remains responsive without blocking the main execution loop.

Geared towards Age group 8-15 yrs.

Attend this informative 6 part lecture series on AI, geared towards all age groups (16 to 86).

​

  • Lecture 1  : General Intro to AI & guide to resources. This lecture will underscore how novel, important and disruptive AI has been and is projected to be. It will provide a comprehensive guide to resources about AI.

  • Lecture 2 : A history of AI. This lecture will deal with historical developments of AI, where we will discuss the history of AI broken up into four eras: Pre -1950, 1950-2000, 2000-2019 and 2019 – present.

  • Lecture 3 : The nature of the technology.  This lecture will explain how the prediction paradigm drives the entirety of AI. Machine Learning paradigms will be introduced next. Then, we will discuss Deep Learning architecture and Large Language Models.

  • Lecture 4 : Industry applications of AI. This lecture will focus on the application of AI in some key industries and functional areas of business such as Healthcare, Sports, Banking and Finance. Case studies of the use of AI in solving specific problems will be discussed .

  • Lecture 5 : AI , Society and the economy. We will discuss issues such as worker rights , human agency and social cohesion , epistemic collapse, environmental sustainability, and finally will AI eventually make all of us second-class citizens, Matrix-style?

  • Lecture 6 : Practical AI tools for everyone. We will discuss AI-based tools and offer a broad comparison of Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude and guidelines about prompt engineering, hallucination-free research documentation, graphics etc.

  • Dr. Ani Dasgupta - Dr. Ani Dasgupta holds a Bachelors in Physics (St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, India), a
    Masters in Statistics (Indian Statistical University, New Delhi, India) and a PhD in Economics (Princeton University, USA). He has taught at Penn State University, Tufts University, IIMC (Kolkata, India), Boston University and is a full professor at the International Business Department of Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA). His fields of academic specialization are Game Theory, Econometrics and Finance. He is in charge of the administration of the AI Concentration offered at MMA and is a member of the steering committee of MACH (Massachusetts Artificial Intelligence Collaborative for Higher Education).
